Sarkari Naukri: Government Jobs in India
Sarkari naukri means a job with the central government, a state government, or a public sector organisation such as a bank, railway or PSU. These jobs are popular because of job security, a fixed salary structure, allowances and a pension or retirement benefit. This page explains the main types of government jobs and where to apply, so you can go straight to the official site.
Types of Government Jobs
Central Government Jobs
Run by bodies such as UPSC and the Staff Selection Commission. They include civil services, clerical posts, inspectors and technical roles in central ministries and departments.
State Government Jobs
Each state has its own Public Service Commission and recruitment boards. They hire for police, teaching, health, revenue and other state departments.
Railway Jobs
Indian Railways hires through Railway Recruitment Boards (RRB) for technicians, assistant loco pilots, clerks, station staff and group D posts.
Banking Jobs
Public sector banks recruit clerks, probationary officers and specialist officers, mostly through IBPS and SBI exams.
Defence and Police Jobs
Includes the Army, Navy, Air Force, paramilitary forces and state police. These usually involve a written exam, a physical test and a medical test.
