ID and Documents Online
Most important documents can now be applied for, updated or stored online. This page lists the main ID services and the official sites for them.
Main Options
DigiLocker
A government app and website that stores your documents, such as marksheets, driving licence and PAN, and treats them as valid copies.
Aadhaar (UIDAI)
Update your address or mobile number, download your e-Aadhaar and find an enrolment centre.
Passport
Apply for a new passport or renew one through the Passport Seva portal and book an appointment.
Voter ID
Register as a voter, correct your details or download your e-EPIC through the Election Commission portal.
PAN and Income Tax
Apply for a PAN, link it with Aadhaar and file your tax return on the income tax portal.
Driving Licence
Apply for a learner licence, a driving licence or a renewal through the Parivahan portal.
Ration Card
Apply through your state food department. The National Food Security portal has general information.

How to Apply
- Pick the document you need and open its official site from the list.
- Create an account with your own mobile number.
- Fill in the form and upload scanned documents in the size asked.
- Pay the government fee on the official site, if any.
- Save the receipt and application number, and track the status.
- Download or collect the document when it is ready.
Documents You Usually Need
- Aadhaar card

Stay Safe from Fraud
- Government document fees are small and shown on the official site. Be careful with “agents” and fake copies of these websites, and never share your OTP.
- Official sites end in .gov.in or .nic.in. Check the address bar before you enter any detail.
- Report fraud at cybercrime.gov.in or call 1930.
