Scholarships for Students
Government scholarships help students pay for school and college. Many are listed on one portal, the National Scholarship Portal, and each state also runs its own. This page explains the main types and where to apply.
Main Options
Pre-Matric Scholarships
For students in classes 9 and 10, and in some schemes earlier, from eligible categories such as SC, ST, OBC and minority communities.
Post-Matric Scholarships
For students studying after class 10, including class 11 and 12, college, and professional courses.
Merit-cum-Means Scholarships
Given on the basis of both marks and family income. Check the minimum percentage and income limit in the notification.
Minority Scholarships
For students from notified minority communities, with separate schemes at pre-matric, post-matric and merit-cum-means levels.
State Scholarships
Every state offers its own schemes for local students. Check your state scholarship portal along with the national one.
